Hannah Futter
Early Childhood Sector
My name is Hannah Futter and I live here in Whanganui with my husband and our two sons, one of whom was born with a rare genetic disorder called Prader Willi Syndrome. Aside from being a Mum I also work in the Early Childhood Sector and have done so for close to 15 years. This has been both as an Early Childhood Teacher and as a Hospital Play Specialist.
I feel really positive about the journey of Whanganui becoming a City of Possibility here in Aotearoa. Advocating for the rights of the vulnerable and often overlooked is something I feel passionate about and this has been further fuelled by having a child who is a part of the disability community. As a local of Whanganui I chose to move back here in 2018 to start a family and my motivation for this came from recognising this city is a great place to raise children. Iām excited to be a part of WCOP, seeing the city through the eyes of my son who lives with a lifelong disability I hope to raise awareness around accessibility and inclusivity for those living with disabilities.
